Kate Hunter - a rival to beat!
When Kate first started running courses for her age class at events, she always had a target - she wanted to beat one or two other women in her class.
Kate did not know who these women were, but she was haunted by them in the results list. It was a good day when she beat them but that was not happening enough.
Some of these rivals have moved onto another class & course now. Kate, being a youngster is still in the W35 class; she chooses to run as a W35S and so does the Green course. In EckO there is a bit of competition between all the women running this course (Kate W35S, Lucy W40S, Gill W55L, Julie W40S, Lynne W55L, Fiona W50S), but Briony W14A is ignored in this competition when she decides to run Green and wipe the floor with us all!
No one had realised just how Kate was viewed by the other W35 ladies running the Green course until the day event of the Tinto Twin weekend. At download, one person finished in 60min01sec. The person on download said to her
“If you had just run that little bit faster you would have been under the hour.“
The response was: “I don’t care, I’ve beaten Katherine Hunter by 4 seconds so I am happy!“
Watch out Kate, you have rivals out there!!
