Sports Coaching Weekend

Argyll & Bute Council are putting on this weekend, packed with great entry level courses suitable for people interested in starting to coach/instruct sport or looking to improve their current knowledge and qualifications.
There are 2 specific orienteering courses, Teaching Orienteering and Orienteering Skills Development.

As you will see by perusing the programme, there is a wide variety of sports and activities covered as well as courses that will be invaluable to anyone operating a club, youth organisation or event. The orienteering ones are described below, but there are other non-specific ones that may be of interest.

Teaching Orienteering, Sat 7th Feb

This is a British Orienteering certificated course that aims to introduce candidates to the basics of teaching orienteering in a small local area. It is designed to
give participants confidence to begin teaching orienteering to beginners and novices. The course is very practical and will give candidates lots of ideas and
activities to use in their sessions. “Teaching Orienteering Certificate” awarded on the day.

Orienteering Skills Development, Sun 8th Feb

This is an opportunity to gain valuable coaching in the sport of orienteering. A variety of skills and techniques will be taught that will help candidates to
progress in their own personal orienteering ability. Pre-requisites: Must have some personal orienteering experience. Experience and ability to run Green
orienteering courses. Appropriate level of fitness to undertake a series of outdoor coaching exercises.
