Training / Coaching weekend, 19-21st March, 2010, Speyside
![]()
As anticipated, I have had a very full email inbox with 50 people expressing an interest in the coaching weekend in March 2010! This is an excellent response and now I have to find accommodation and potential coaches. There will be a great mix of folks on the weekend - from adult novices to very experienced adults to experienced juniors and those who have heard about the EckO ‘rent a crowd’ and want to come along for the social side.
I need all on the list to check they
(a) still committed (I don’t need to hear from you if this is the case)
OR
(b) if there is a ? beside their name to say one way or the other if they are coming (I expect to have to pay a deposit for accommodation and if you stay on the list you will be liable for your share of this)
AND
(c) if a junior with a ? to say that they are coming but the ? is with
regard to coaching/or not.
Also, have you forgotten to say you would like to come along? If so then please email me by return!!
Original post
EckO has grown in strength and depth over the last year - partly demonstrated by the numbers attending Tay 2009 and the club winning the 8 person relay in September. The social aspect of the club is also important and it would be good to get together for a weekend. Usually there is a coaching session held once or twice a year on one of our local areas. However, everyone is getting to know these areas well and it is now time for a club training weekend based away from our home area. If you are interested then please read on!
Date:
Friday (evening) 19th March to Sunday (early afternoon - 3pm ish) 21st March 2010. This means that we will have all our techniques in top condition for the first SOL of 2010!
Location:
Speyside forests close to Aviemore - wonderful areas with glorious contour detail and they are runnable!
Accommodation:
Depends on people but we will try to book chalets or something like that to minimise travelling while there.
Coaching programme:
Juniors (up to and including Orange/TD3): coaching sessions Sat am. and Sun am. Leisure activity (? run by ?) Sat pm.
Seniors (Light green upwards TD4/5): Coaching sessions Sat am., Sat pm. and Sun am.
Sun early afternoon: fun club event for all.
We could hire in a coach (not a bus - a person with expertise! Costs spread between all would not add much to the weekend) and this might be most suitable for the juniors to allow all the adults to benefit from the coaching we can put on ourselves?
Coaching areas:
To be decided, but for some sessions will try to make use of the courses put out by the National Orienteering Centre each month.
Costs:
Not a clue really at the moment. It depends on numbers and accommodation available. Map costs will work out about £5 per person for the weekend max. Kate’s husband has tentatively volunteered to come along and cater for us!
What now?
I would like to have expressions of interest as soon as possible and by Monday 5th October. An expression of interest does not commit you!
I need to know the following from each person/group/family:
1. Name of person who will coordinate for family/group/individual:
2. Numbers interested in being coached (please split up as follows):
Senior male:
Senior female:
Junior male:
Junior female:
3. Numbers interested in coming along but not orienteering:
Senior male:
Senior female:
Junior male:
Junior female:
Please copy/paste the above section into an email and send it to
So I await a very full email inbox by 5th October!
