Dunollie, 21st Jan 07

Over 30 people turned out for Ecko's first event in 2007 at Dunollie on the edge of Oban, despite a forecast that predicted snow and hail showers. Luckily they never materialised although, after weeks of rain, it was very wet and muddy underfoot.

The area allowed for a simple track based white course and a more technical orange and green. Indeed there was plenty of variety to plan some interesting routes. Everyone seemed to find a course that fitted their aspirations.

Well done to a few juniors who tackled the more demanding orange after warming up on the white. Apart from the regulars we also had a few new faces including the Whistons from Lochgilphead and Barlows from Luing. Good also to see a couple of keen Oban hill runners. Perhaps the word will get out to others looking for a mental as well as physical challenge!

Many thanks to Alasdair Macleod, the farmer, for being so accomodating. Also to Lynne and Paul for helping with map preparation and Andy for help with putting out and bringing in controls.
