Car parking will be by the roadside in Gleann Salach, grid ref NM980382.  Approach either from Barcaldine (signed Bonawe), or from North Connel along Loch Etive then left to Gleann Salach (signed Barcaldine).

Terrain:

The terrain is an open hilltop with lots of contour detail, boulders and superb views. It's also very runnable, which makes for great orienteering. Since there are almost no line features this event is not suitable for beginners.

12:30 - 1:30 pm, courses close 3:00pm

Notes:

This is an open area at around 1000 ft and could be very exposed in bad weather. Bring appropriate clothing. A wind/waterproof may be compulsory.

The start/finish will be a 10-15 minute very steep climb (120m)from the parking, but once up on the hill the terrain is gently rolling.

 

SPORTident (SI) electronic punching is normally used at events.

Maps are pre-marked and printed on waterproof paper.

Yellow = Easy controls on paths with some controls just off paths, compass not essential.

Orange = Moderate with most controls just off paths or line features, compass recommended.

Green = Technical with most controls NOT on paths or line features.

Blue = Same as Green but longer (5km +).
