CompassSport Trophy Scottish heat, Pitlochry, 19th Feb

Nearest town:

Pitlochry

A reminder about the CompassSport Cup event which will be at Faskally (a fun little map near Pitlochry) on 19th Feb. This is the Scottish round.

Notes:

The leaders will go through to the final which this year will be in the borders, so doable for us if we qualify.  My understanding is that up to 4 of 9 of the smaller clubs from Scotland will go through, though it’s all a bit complicated, but we’re in with a shout!
The final is on 30th September at Teviothead in the Scottish Borders.

We need 13 scorers for a full team. The scoring system is a bit convoluted (see http://www.pgopage.btinternet.co.uk/id19.htm if you’d really like to know!), but essentiially we need a good spread across age classes on the following courses:

1 Brown: Men Open (up to 3 counters)
2 Blue Women: Women Open (up to 2 counters)
3 Blue Men: Men M45+ M20- (up to 3 counters)
4 Green Women: W45+ W20- (up to 2 counters)
5 Green Men: M60+ (up to 2 counters)
6 Short Green Veterans: M75+ W60+ (up to 2 counters)
7A Light Green Men: Men 18- (up to 2 counters with 7B)
7B Light Green Women: Women 18- (up to 2 counters with 7A)
8A Orange Men: Men 14- (up to 2 couters with 8B)
8B Orange Women: Women 14- (up to 2 counters with 8A)

If you can go and know which course you want to run you can enter yourself at www.oentries.com (entries by 7th Feb). If you’d like to make sure which course to enter, please check with me first.  Or if you’re willing to ‘run up’ on a longer course, let me know you’re available and hold off on entering for the time being as we might be able to maximise our points by juggling folks around a little.  We’re short of scorers on a few courses, particularly the men’s open (brown) and women’s open (blue).  We’re also sadly lacking in short green veterans.  It would also be useful if anyone is definitely not available if you could let me know so I can take that into account.

Juniors score if they are running orange (MW14-) or light green (MW18-), but there will also be non-scoring white/yellow courses available for those not yet running orange so there is something to keep all ages busy.

Control symbols

We will be using these descriptions for all courses from now on, so you need to understand them.

Have a look at this website: IOF Quiz
It has a quiz on the control description symbols. It is very well laid out with an option to time your answers.
