Terrain:

The open moorland gives a good introduction to using contours and setting the map using surrounding features. The area around Dunstaffnage Castle will be used for the longer courses.

Orange, 2.2km
Light Green, 3.7km

Blue, 6.8km

Coaching tips

On the yellow and orange courses, careful map reading is required. Always set your map at each junction to make sure that you chose the correct route.
Light green, green and blue will be tested for their speed of navigation. Much of the ground is very runnable - read your contour shapes carefully and then go for it!

Lynne will be there so you can ask advice before your run or discuss your performance afterwards, while munching on Briony’s cakes! Remember your Star Cards and also write up your progress on the Record Sheets.

18:00 to 19:00. Courses close 20:15.

Briony will be selling cakes and juice as part of her fund-raising to attend the Lagganlia training camp. Please support her by replacing all those calories you burn whilst running round your course.

Maps will be printed on Tuesday - please email before 8pm Tuesday if you intend coming and which course you plan to do.

Explanation of Course Colours

Yellow = Easy controls on paths with some controls just off paths, compass not essential.

Orange = Moderate with most controls just off paths or line features, compass recommended.

Light Green = More technical than Orange but not as hard as Green.

Green = Technical with most controls NOT on paths or line features.

Blue = Same as Green but longer (5km +).
