Results update/correction:
Amy Kincaid was using Roberts SI-card.
The Orange course was wrong as well, Jura Macmillan was the real winner, I had input Ceri’s BOF number into the system in error.

CompassSport Cup 2012

The CompassSport Cup is an annual event, which will be at Faskally (a fun little map near Pitlochry) on 19th Feb. Clubs compete against each other in area qualifying rounds; the top clubs then go forward tot he national finals. This is the Scottish round. The leaders will go through to the final which this year will be in the borders, so doable for us if we qualify. My understanding is that up to 4 of 9 of the smaller clubs from Scotland will go through, though it’s all a bit complicated, but we’re in with a shout!

Congratulations to Callum and Briony in being selected for the Scottish Junior Squad 2012.
It’s good to see the hard work they have both put in is recognised by others. The extra support that being in the squad offers should help them progress faster in the coming year.

The EckO Christmas Romp was a sociable occasion. We had everyone start together at 1:30 and there was soup and Christmas fare at the finish.

MAKI School Championships, 1st Dec 2011

A joint venture between EckO, Stramash and Active Schools.
The 2011 Mid Argyll School Championships took place at Kilmory Castle, Lochgilphead on Thursday 1st Dec. 168 pupils from 6 schools took part in the competition.
Tayvallich won the team trophy.
The overall school results and individuals can be seen below.

British Schools Orienteering Champs 2011

Congratulations to Eilidh Shearer for coming 1st in the year 6 Girls class.
Taynuilt Primary were 4th in the Middle-Preparatory class.
The championships were held at Beecraigs Country Park, on the 20th November.

It was also the Scottish Schools’ Sprint Championships on the Saturday, and we did well there to, Sprint results.

There was a problem with some of the boxes time being out of sync with the others. So there are some instances of visiting a control before you left the previous one and getting a negative split time. Andy has manually modified some, but it is a very time consuming process to do all of them. So apologies if you are affected, but the overall times are correct.

The Event that Almost Never Was

I like Sutherland’s Grove. Yes, there are some horrendous bits of jungle, the river can only be crossed (orienteering-wise) at three points, many of us are on first name terms with some of the boulders and there is really only one feasible starting area. But there are some interesting parts, some unmapped.
