Ganavan, 29th May 07

The weather was not ideal for the last in the Spring Series, rain and wind. The setting on Ganavan Beach can be idylic, but not today.

The fantastic Ganavan area is top quality terrain and undoubtedly the best views of any of our orienteering areas- from Mull and Lismore, to the hills of Ardgour and Glencoe, to Cruachan, to the Paps of Jura and to Kerrera. It should be noted that all the courses were reasonably technical due to the lack of line features, this includes the shorter Yellow and Orange courses. So don't be hard on yourself if you found it tough, this is orienteering at it's most challenging.

Terrain:

The Green and Blue courses offered extremely varied and very enjoyable terrain: heather, rough grass, bog myrtle, patches of native woodland, short grazed grass with clumps of gorse, crags, knolls, beautiful bluebell woodland, short bracken and small areas of marsh.
