Autumn Sunshine at Sutherland’s Grove
Now I know that a proportion of our members like nothing better than wading through waste high vegetation with very few line features to help out. But for the less masochistic of us, there’s nothing more comforting than a run around Sutherland’s Grove.
For a Forestry Commission site it’s nothing like as boring as many. It’s gorgeous features like the reservoir, amazing views and that fabulous cascading river gully cutting through the middle, all contribute to a really great experience.
So on Saturday 5th November it didn’t take much persuasion to get myself, and is it appears, lot of other Ecko members out into the forest.
I chose the Light Green course, hoping that the ‘light’ part would compensate for lack of fitness. Good choice. Alan Partridge had planned an excellent course with almost every leg involving alternative routes, with tracks to take you quickly through the longer parts of the leg followed by a good delve into the forest to find the control.
The sun was out for us, and I have to confess to stopping to take a few snaps on the way – well you can’t take these things too seriously can you?
Many thanks to our autumn series organisers. It’s all very much appreciated.
