Social level event

Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Pre Event Info

Over the last two years, we have all missed the social side being a member of EckO and of orienteering in general. As Christmas is fast approaching and before your calendar fills up too quickly how about keeping this date for your diaries. Let’s have a fun EckO get together.

EckO would like to hold a Christmas Social/ Frolic based in the grounds of Barcaldine School but also using Sutherland’s Grove on Sunday, 19th December 2021 at 11.00am.
A rough plan based on fun, fun, fun would be to have a few Christmas themed orienteering activities around the school grounds, a team relay in Sutherland’s Grove where as many members as possible take part, followed by an outdoor picnic/ bbq at the school.
You don’t have to be an expert orienteer or fast to take part in the relay and it will be suitable for young juniors (8+) upwards. There will also be a short score course or similar for family groups with young children who don’t want to take part in the relay. There will also be spot prizes awarded for...wait and see!

Please can you respond before Sunday 28th November (jan.kersel@ecko.org.uk)
with the following information:

  1. You are interested in coming to the social
  2. You are interested in being part of a team for the relay (it will be so much fun)
  3. If you also have any great Christmassy ideas please let me know.

We are in the early stages of planning at the moment so it would be really useful to get an idea of potential numbers to help with the organisation.
