Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Directions / Parking
Event assembly/start on track off large bend in Glen Lonan Road approximately 1km east of Barguillean Fm.
The assembly area is about 2.5km from Taynuilt, via the minor road turnoff beside Taynuilt Hotel signposted 'Glen Lonan'. Or about 12km from Glencruitten, Oban via the Glen Lonan road to Taynuilt.
There is very limited parking at the event assembly. Please use off-road hard standings beside road near Barguillean farm
Map / Terrain
Glen Nant accessed from the Glen Lonan Road near Barguillean. Open cattle grazed birch woodland, marshy grassland understory with open moorland above. Steep but runnable hillside dissected by liner marshes and streams. Lots of contour detail makes for classic orienteering terrain.

Course Information
Yellow - Simple, follows fences and tracks - 2km 135m climb
Orange - More challenging, off-line controls - 1.7km 140m climb
Light Green - Challenging but short distances between controls - 2.3km 225m climb
Green - Challenging control picking course - 3.1Km 225m
Blue - Challenging longer control picking course - 3.9km 290m
Please note there are very few tracks and paths in this area so the Yellow and Orange courses mostly follow fences and linear features in the terrain. Not suitable for buggies. Stout shoes with good grips or studs advisable.

Entry on the day is possible, but we print only a few extra maps for each course and so there is a risk you won't get your preferred course.

Sorry no dogs allowed at this event. There are cows within the vicinity of the area.
