Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Report
Another successful event, thanks to planners Chris and Alison, and controller Ross . They gave us five courses, ranging from the Yellow course on the gently undulating, open terrain of the golf course to the physically and technically demanding Blue course which took runners onto the steep wooded hillside above the golf course.
Weather was atrocious and so the turnout of more than fifty hardy souls was very satisfying for the organising team. All were grateful to return to warming soup and sandwiches in the Café. The age range of competitors was again typical of our sport: from one young lady barely six weeks old (albeit under the protection of her mum) to at least a couple of participants of pensionable age.
EckO wish to express our thanks to the Café owner and his staff for opening especially for our event; to Fort William Golf Club for granting access to the golf course and changing facilities; and to Jamaha Estates for allowing access.

Map / Terrain
The map is a mixture of Open golf course fairways and forestry woodland, mostly open and deciduous trees. There are a network of tracks and paths, (some of which start and stop at random on the golf course).
There is a section of the golf course which is out of Bounds. Please remember that Greens and Tee’s are out of Bounds (Runners are to skirt round Greens and Tee’s)
Whilst the main running area has been closed to golfers, please always be on the lookout for golfers.
