National level event
Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Report
The Scottish Orienteering Championships took place in EckO-land over the weekend of 27th/28th May.
Individual Championships
These were in Creag Mhic Chailean, between Connel and Taynuilt, thanks once again to Lorne Nelson.
Twenty EckO members took part with some notable successes:
- Rose Price sisters, Sylva, Éowyn, and Indira finished 4th, 5th, and 8th in the W12 class;
- New member Hazel Farnell was 2nd in the W35S class;
- Lizzie Rose and Liz Cottier finshed 4th and 7th in W50S;
- Carol Burnap was first in W55S;
- Alison Stewart finished 2nd in W60S;
- Jan Kersel and Gill Berrow finished 3rd and 9th in the W65L class;
- Suse Coon was 8th in her class, W70L.
Jan, as the first Scot in her class, is now the Scottish W65 Champion.
- Finlay Cottier finished 2nd in M14 class and his brother Ruari was 5th in M16;
- Philip Price won M40S;
- John McLuckie was first in M45S;
- Finlo Cottier was 12th in M50L;
- Andy Dale finished 15th in M55L;
- Clive Tant was 18th in M65L;
- John Coon finished 4th in M70L.
