Lots of news and dates for your diaries.

Events

The schedule of events can be found on the EckO website. It is intended to hold a local orienteering event on the first Sunday of every month. The first event is at Ganavan/ Dunollie on Sunday 3rd September. All details will be found on the website soon. This event is suitable for all orienteers from beginners to the more experienced orienteer.

Scottish 6 Days - Moray 2023

Over 20 EckO members had great fun at Moray 2023. The areas used were Lossiemouth Forest, Darnaway, Roseisle and Culbin East and West with a sprint held at Forres, trail orienteering and 3 mountain bike orienteering events on the ‘rest day’.

EckO’s day for helping was on the second day at Darnaway. A huge thanks must go to Ross for being assistant controller and Finlo for being assistant planner. This was a huge committment both beforehand and on the day. It is safe to say that the day ran very smoothly and it only started to rain as the courses were closing.

Each area presented its own challenges but on the whole everyone enjoyed themselves. There was a lot of post run analysis going on in the tent. The tent was invaluable offering protection from both the sun and the rain. It was also a great place to gather and socialise. Many thanks to Dave Bleazard for lending EckO Adventure Oban’s tent.

Event Safety Workshop

EckO in conjunction with SOA are running an on-line Event Safety Workshop on Tuesday, 26th September in the evening. This workshop is aimed at anyone who orienteers but particularly those who have an interest in volunteering at an event eg, organising, planning, controlling as well as all the club coaches.

More details will follow but if you are interested please let me know as soon as possible.
