It's strange to think that a week ago as a club we would have been celebrating a very successful, sunny SOL2 at Coille Nathais. However, it was not to be. Life has changed dramatically for all of us but EckO hopes that all its members are well in body and mind. Life will return to a 'new normal' but when - nobody can predict. It is clear now that we should stay at home and only travel when essential. However, there are many things we can do to keep ourselves fit and active and hone our orienteering skills.

Physical Exercise:

Daily exercise is to be encouraged but from home - stay local.

How is your strength and conditioning? Have you thought of daily yoga/ pilates/ skipping? There are many youtube videos available to guide you.

Armchair Orienteering:

Have a look at this site produced by Duncan Bayliss to learn more about orienteering https://betterorienteering.org/

For a daily dose of challenges check into Scottish Orienteering Facebook page or check out the website

Chris Smithard – Development Officer for FVO has started planning and running Webinars in mapping and course planning and has created a list of resources available. Some great ideas there.

FVO are also running a course planning competition – sign up to their newsletter to keep up to date with what they are planning.

CompassSport have been running a daily photo quiz on facebook

Scottish Student Sports have come up with a novel ‘olympics’ – some ideas worth pinching from there.

SOA puzzles and challenges - https://www.scottish-orienteering.org/resources/puzzles-and-challenges/

As you can see, there is a huge variety and choice.

Have fun exploring these and we look forward to meeting together as soon as possible. Meantime, if you have any ideas or anything that you would like the club to be doing during these very unusual times please contact the committee
