Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Directions / Parking
Parking at Dunstaffnage Castle Carpark.
Follow signs off the A85 to Dunbeg and Dunstaffnage Castle. Continue through Dunbeg, SAMS marine lab to the castle carpark.
Map / Terrain
Based at the Dunstaffnage Castle Carpark the area comprises the Scottish Association for Marine Science buildings and surroundings, woodland and coastline around Dunstaffnage and beyond Dunbeg new developments as well as some of the public spaces within the Dunbeg settlement.
Registration and Start times
Starts from 11.00 to 12.00.
If you would like some coaching and introduction to orienteering technique, please come for 10.00hrs.
Course Information
Range of courses to suit all
Yellow - 1-2Km Uses simple linear features like paths, walls and streams. Mainly used by under 12’s and family groups
Orange - 2-3Km - Basic use of the compass and route choice. Ideal for novice adults or experienced youngsters
Short Green - 3-4Km -for experienced orienteers. Physically and technically challenging but shorter than a green
Blue - 4-6 Km- for experienced orienteers. Physically and technically challenging but longer than a green

Seniors (members) : £6
Seniors (non members of Scottish Orienteering or British Orienteering) : £7
