Thanks Niall, for an interesting twist on a Norwegian event.
At the start (and each control), there was a map for each course, showing only the next control, but the twist was that there were 2 or 3 options (1a, 1b, 1c) with a multiple choice question and the correct answer was the actual control. So if you knew that the answer was b you just had to remember where b was and how to get there (you didn’t get a map to keep).

The weather prior to the event meant everything was wet and muddy and slippy. We lost some path routes, which made the yellow rather short but still worthwhile for the novices/juniors.

When I started putting out the controls on Sunday morning I came across a large tractor and could hear a lot of mechanical noise in the distance. It turned out that a contractor had decided to re-grade a section of the forest road that was a central part of every course I had planned.
He admitted that he wasn’t meant to be there on Sunday but thought it would be OK, so he volunteered to pack up until we had finished.
